SATIS Athletics

The SATIS Athletics season drew to a close after a full day of competition at St Leonards Athletics Centre on Saturday 22nd September.  Following terrible conditions at the regional SSATIS and NSATIS Carnivals athletes, officials and supporters were treated to much kinder weather.  As a result competition was spirited with an unprecedented 8 records being broken across a number of dicisplines – as listed below:

Jagga Pybus (The Hutchins School) – Boys Open 110m Hurdles 14.91 secs

Harvey Chilcott (The HUtchins School) – Boys Open 3000m 8.50.43

Jane HIckie (St Michael’s Collegiate) – Girls Open Long Jump 5.82m

Jack Lewis (St Virgils College) – Boys U/15 200m 23.28 secs

Another highlight came from Sam Walker from Dominic College in the Open Boys Shot Put event.  Sam set an Australian U/18 T38 Pararecord with a throw of 13.46m.

At the conclusion of events 10 age group pennants and 9 shields were presented to the winning schools.  See  documents below for full results.

All events were again officiated by a large number of Athletics Tasmania officials from the North West, Launceston and Hobart alongside a huge band of volunteers from participating schools.  The staff and students thank all these people for their support – these events would not exist without their work.
