2015 Head of the River Rowing Regatta

Saturday 7th March 2015.  
Planning is in the final stages for this year’s Head of the River Regatta.  With a much earlier date set, schools have be working hard to prepare for this important event on the sporting calendar.  Make your way to Lake Barrington on Saturday 7th March to witness a day of excellent rowing in a world class setting. First event starts at 8.30 am with the senior eights completing the events at approximately 3.45 pm.

 Please note the following important information in regards to Camping,  Vehicle Access and Parking at the Lake.

Camping:  Camping at the Lake on Friday night will be permitted. Rowing Tasmania officials will collect the $10 per site money as usual on Friday evening. Please advise your boat club families.

Any rowers camping at the lake should be proximate to, and under effective control of their parents.  There is to be no camping or use of swags in the rotunda or in the vicinity of the Sam LeCompte Shed

Vehicle access and Parking: (due to the expected increase in traffic with the Long Weekend Rowing programme limited parking will be available.)

Please observe the 1-way traffic rules.  All vehicles entering are to turn left on arrival at the lake, proceed along in front of the Lodge, and follow parking marshal directions.

The lower road area from the Sam LeCompte Shed North is restricted for boat trailers and school rowing utes/tow vehicles etc.  This year each school will be provided with two support vehicle passes 1 Delegate pass and 1 Principal pass which must be displayed in order to gain access. 

General spectator parking is NOT available on the grassed area behind the Reeconians Centre and the Sam LeCompte Shed this year.            Limited parking is in the treed area towards the rotunda.

Disability parking will be available within the restricted area immediately to the left of the restricted access point (opposite the 1750M knoll). Disability permits must be displayed in order to gain access.

Bus parking is to be in the area behind the judges’ tower at the far end of the facilities building.

There is to be no parking at all in front of the Reeconians Centre or in the area reserved for the Rowing Tasmania Sponsor display.

Supporters will not be given temporary access to drop off supplies to school sites unless delegates have given prior notification to Barb McBride and Craig Boon – providing the details of vehicle and drivers requiring temporary access.
